The Permission Slip was born out of something I've noticed everywhere I go.

As a professor, speaker, author, and student success strategist, I spend my life in all kinds of rooms: lecture halls, conferences, athletic training facilities, board rooms, and conversations with people from every walk of life.

And no matter who's sitting in front of me, one thing is almost always true: people are deeply hesitant to fully be themselves.
They're scared to fail.
Scared to look ridiculous.
Scared to disappoint people.
So instead of chasing the thing they really want, they follow the script, play it safe, stay quiet, and live by the rules they didn't even create.
And honestly? That's a brutal way to live.

Here's the truth most people eventually realize: everybody is busy worrying about their own lives.
Their own insecurities.
Their own goals.
Their own problems.
Not because people are cruel, but because human beings are naturally consumed with their own journey.

Which means it makes zero sense to keep shrinking yourself, delaying your goals or muting your voice just to keep other people happy who truly aren'nt even paying attention to your choices anymore.

This podcast is your reminder that you do not need permission to go after the life you want. To start again. Change directions. Speak up. Bet on yourself. Take the risk. Be ambitious. Be different. Be authentic. The Permission Slip is about courage over comfort, authenticity over approval, and finally doing the damn thing instead of endlessly talking yourself out of it.
This podcast series considers the tired rules people hand out as gospel. This is a space for challenging scripts we've inherited, and giving ourselves permission to think bigger, differently, and more honestly about the life we actually want.
